What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?
Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website. We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called “tracking pixels” or “clear gifs”). These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that lets us recognize when someone has visited our Website or opened an email we have sent. This helps us, for example, understand site traffic patterns and confirm whether our emails (such as the email that delivers your guide) have been opened. In many cases these technologies rely on cookies to function, so declining cookies will impair their functioning.
Do you serve targeted advertising?
We do not display advertising on the Website itself. We do, however, advertise Little Star Chart on other platforms — currently Meta’s Facebook and Instagram — and we use the Meta Pixel on the Website to measure whether those ads led to a visit or a purchase and to help Meta deliver our ads to people more likely to be interested. In addition to the _fbp and _fbc cookies described above, our servers send Meta attribution data about key events on the Website: the event name (such as a completed purchase, including its amount), the page URL, your IP address and browser user agent, and the values of Meta’s own cookies. We never send Meta the birth details you enter or anything from a generated guide. You can control how Meta uses this data in your Meta ad preferences.
